We have tried, in this website, to give all the information necessary for potential customers to make an informed decision on whether to select BARFLIES BARS as their preferred mobile bar supplier. In fact the site now resembles a text book!
Inevitably, however, there will be points we have either not covered at all, or have only mentioned on specific pages.
Some questions can be answered by reference to the following. We will expand this page over time, to address issues raised.
How much notice is required, for you to be able to provide a mobile bar?
We can normally react very quickly. In fact we have developed quite a reputation for being able to "step into the breech" when people are let down at the last minute! The only major problem is that, where alcohol is to be offered for sale, a licence ("Temporary Event Notice") needs to be obtained (see "Licensing"). At present, this takes at least ten working days.
How much space is required for your bar?
Clearly, to some extent, this depends upon the number of guests. In permanent venues, such as public buildings, community halls etc, we are able to work from areas set aside for bar/catering purposes. Often, for example, there is a kitchen area with hatches to the main hall(s). Most communal buildings have a restriction on the number of people who can be admitted, and the facilities for ancillary activities, such as bars and catering, reflect this.
Where there is no area set aside for a bar operation, we would need approximately 120 square feet (11 square metres) to set up our own bar structure, locate cooling and dispense equipment, stock, tills etc, and provide opearating space for our staff.
How long does it take for you to set up your bar?
This depends upon accessibility. If we can get a van or trailer close to the site of the bar, about 45 minutes is normally sufficient. However, for our coolers to reach the correct temperature, they must be plugged in two hours before service (more in a hot summer!). We always liaise closely with our customers, to make sure we set up and dismantle our bar at convenient times, without disruption to guests.
